SVL Food Drive Inspired A Friendly Competition In the Office!

Participating SVL Employees at the BEAR’ly Open

SVL was a proud sponsor of the 2018 White Bear Lake BEAR’ly Open – Golf on Ice and dance winter fun event. The 11th annual BEAR’ly Open event took place on White Bear Lake in support of the White Bear Area Emergency Food Shelf. In addition to SVL’s sponsorship and participation, SVL partnered with AQC and held an internal office food drive. There were donation boxes in front of the principal and general manager’s offices for donations.

SVL Upped The Ante with a Prize

As an added incentive, the principal or general manager with most donation items in their box had to dress up in Green Bay Packer gear for an entire workday! There was a lot of friendly competition as employees rolled in donations for their favorite Vikings fans. Our lucky winner was Al Gramse, with a donation count of 154 items! He donned the Packers garb for an entire Friday and was a good sport. The final tally was 340 items or 535 lbs. of food donated to help those in need.

The BEAR’ly Open’s first annual event in 2007, set out to gather food items after the holidays when food shelve’s stock is low. Often they are low due to a greater need and the weather. Since then, the Bear’ly Open has collected over a million dollars worth of food for the White Bear Lake community. The two-day event includes a dance and a nine-hole golf tournament on the ice. Participants have expressed how much they enjoy this event and its cause since the beginning.

Thank you to BEAR’ly Open and the White Bear Area Emergency Food Shelf for holding the event. The SVL team had a blast working with your organizations and to help the community.
