Geothermal heat pumps are a recurring topic right now — driven by interest in ITC opportunities, evolving legislation and being the most efficient systems available. But there’s a persistent misconception that equates geothermal with a specific delivery method: a borefield, complex external controls, and a large capital commitment. That framing is limiting projects before they get off the ground.

Ecoforest is not a geothermal heat pump manufacturer. We are a solution provider — and that distinction opens the conversation significantly. Our technology features inverter-driven compressors, hybrid source management, PV integration, and an all-in-one approach to heating, cooling, and domestic hot water. When a ground loop isn’t feasible, the question becomes: what is available? PVT, dry coolers, open-loop water, waste heat recovery, thermal storage — we adapt to the project, not the other way around. And we cover the plantroom controls and design as part of the package.

On the incentive side, two ITC pathways are worth considering: geothermal heat pump installations remain eligible under §48 credit and thermal energy storage systems qualify independently under §48E. With an operational envelope that can supply chilled water at -4 ºF and hot water at 149 ºF, the possibilities are significant. How creative can we get?

The broader point is: Ecoforest approaches every project as a solution provider. Our design team starts with what’s available — source, load, infrastructure, incentives — and builds from there. That flexibility and mindset is what makes us an option across a wide range of applications where a conventional geothermal specification would never make it. From ice rinks to wineries, through industrial processes, education, hotels, hospitals, offices and farms. You name it, we propose solutions.
