Improving Indoor Air Quality Is Simple With Ebtron
Better IAQ is Easy with Ebtron’s Airflow Measuring Stations
SVL recently hosted an Ebtron seminar, “Enhanced Building Performance,” at Surly Brewing Company. The seminar drew 70 attendees from the metro area. Everyone enjoyed BBQ tavern eats and a variety of craft beers, provided by Surly. The seminar space overlooks the working brewhouse and the Minneapolis skyline.
Guest speaker Jim Riendeau explained how to improve energy economy, indoor building environments, indoor air quality (IAQ), and building pressurization control. He also spoke to the importance of management and control of Outdoor Air Quality (OAQ) in ensuring a productive and healthy indoor environment. OAQ monitoring is required by industry standards and is also recognized by LEED with the available NC IEQ Credit.

Surly Brewing Company
Surly began in 2005 at a repurposed abrasives factory in Brooklyn Center, Minnesota. They quickly made the ‘Best of” and ‘Brewery of the Year’ lists to establish their permanence. Minnesota had an outdated law prohibiting the sale of alcohol at the location it was made, which complicated Surly’s vision for operation. In an effort to overcome this roadblock, Surly worked with lawmakers to get a new law passed in 2011 known as the ‘Surly Bill.’ The new law allowed breweries to create and sell in the same location. This style of onsite brewing is what Minnesotans recognize and frequent today. In December 2014, Surly moved from its home in Brooklyn Center to Minneapolis’ Prospect Park neighborhood. The 50,000 square-foot facility hosts a brewhouse, beer hall, beer garden, event center, company store, Festival Field concert venue, and pizza restaurant.
Thank you to Surly Brewing Company, for their hospitality, and to everyone who came out to learn how to improve building efficiency.
