Sorbent Ventilation Technology
For More Information:

enVerid Sorbent Ventilation TechnologyTM (SVTTM) is the innovative technology at the core of enVerid’s flagship product, the HVAC Load Reduction™ (HLR) module, an air cleaner that improves IAQ while reducing ventilation energy consumption and HVAC system first costs.
enVerid SVT is a non-toxic sorbent-based air cleaning technology designed to capture carbon dioxide, ozone, and a wide range of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) including formaldehyde.. When applied in combination with the ASHRAE 62.1 Indoor Air Quality Procedure (IAQP), SVT not only safely cleans indoor air but also reduces outside air requirements by as much as 80 percent. As a result, annual HVAC energy costs can be reduced by up to 40%, substantially lowering a building’s energy intensity and carbon emissions.
SVT refers not just to enVerid’s sorbent mixture and filters, but encompasses broader innovations, including enVerid’s air mixing, control integration and the unique regeneration process that allows for the ongoing capture of CO2 produced by exhalations.
enVerid’s HVAC Load Reduction modules are among the only air cleaning products to have undergone independent lab testing for cleaning efficiency for all contaminants of concern using ASHRAE Standard 145.2, the Laboratory Test Method for Assessing the Performance of Gas-Phase Air-Cleaning Systems. The U.S. Department of Energy National Renewable Energy Lab (NREL) has also evaluated Sorbent Air Cleaning for HVAC Load Reduction and has found that it can reduce cooling energy use by up to 37%. Independent lab testing has also confirmed that enVerid’s sorbents produce zero byproducts.
The newest generation of enVerid’s sorbent filter lasts two years before replacement is required. Replacement sorbent filters may be purchased through enVerid’s local Manufacturer Representative or factory direct. Replacing sorbent filters is easy: watch this video to learn how.
Sorbents have been safely used for decades to purify air in places like the International Space Station, remove odors in buildings, and protect workers exposed to products that produce unhealthy fumes. In all of these cases, gaseous contaminant molecules attach to the sorbent, making the air healthy again.
enVerid’s sorbents are highly selective in their ability to remove unwanted indoor air contaminants and represent breakthroughs in material science discovered by national laboratories and university research groups and further developed by enVerid scientists and engineers.
enVerid’s Sorbent Ventilation Technology™ (SVT) targets specific indoor air contaminants including:
- Carbon Dioxide: enVerid has reengineered sorbents initially developed to address atmospheric CO2 for indoor use
- Volatile Organic Compounds: our sorbent captures VOCs using novel synthetic carbon technology previously used in military and industrial settings
- Formaldehyde: the sorbent mixture includes high-capacity formaldehyde-selective sorbents developed by enVerid
enVerid’s sorbent blend is unique in two ways: it captures all common contaminants in buildings and it can regenerate at very low temperatures, enabling it to regain its capacity and cleaning efficiency over and over. enVerid’s sorbent is the first of its kind to be able to regenerate at temperatures below 1,000 degrees Fahrenheit, making it the only sorbent safe for regular indoor use.
