Young Regulator Company Remote Air Control
Bowden Cable Controls
Remote Air Control
For More Information:

Young Regulator has been making Bowden Cable Controls and Dampers since 1950. We pioneered their use in the North American market for remote air control.
Access is concealed in the ceiling, inside plenums, or moved to a convenient area such as a nearby mechanical room or above a lay in ceiling.
Operation is simple. The rotary motion of the control shaft is converted into linear motion of the inner wire. That pushes or pulls the lever arm on the damper hub.
The Bowden Cable can be up to 50 feet long for a long, robust reach. Thus, eliminating ugly and expensive access panels.
Young Regulator offers controller/damper configurations to cover all of your remote access issues. Controllers can be concealed in the ceiling directly below the ductwork or offset above a hallway or other convenient area. They even offer a 4-port bracket to provide a convenient centralized balancing station for mounting in a closet of mechanical room. This centralizes control and can speed air balancing.
Electronic Balancing Dampers (EBD)
Remote Air Control
For More Information:

The Young Regulator EBD is an Electronic Balancing Damper actuated by a 12V DC motor. Dampers above a hard ceiling or in any inaccessible location can be controlled with the EBDP – Electronic Balancing Damper Positioner, which opens and closes the damper and provides a visual indication of the damper position with an LCD meter.
The Positioner can be used to control any number of dampers at a worksite through a variety of receptacles that are offered. The Positioner is self contained and small enough to be carried in a pocket. A high capacity battery is featured for long life and is easily replaced in
the field when necessary.
The EBD is ideal in a number of applications:
- Labs, where more precise balancing or control may be required
- Schools, prisons, and mental health facilities, where access to controls is restricted
- Atriums, where dampers are inaccessible and long cable runs are required
- Any situation where seasonal changes require rebalancing of the HVAC system
An EBD, Electronic Balancing Damper that includes the 12V DC motor, an EBDC Cable up to 1,000’ in length, and a termination are required for a complete assembly. Field connection between 12V DC motor and termination is fast and simple with snap on connectors installed by the factory. One EBDP Positioner is required per job.
Flexible Shaft
Remote Air Control
For More Information:

Flexible shafting is a direct, mechanical method for transmitting rotary motion between two points. The Flex Shaft is 1/4” in diameter, has a brass finish, and is capable of delivering more than 50lbs of torque without damage. The flexible shaft easily avoids ceiling obstacles, making the method much easier than square, solid rod. The damper and controls are factory assembled to simplify installation and save time on the job site.
Plenum Dampers
Remote Air Control
For More Information:

This is the simplest form of Bowden Cable controls. The Inner core of the wire is attached directly to the damper blade of the oval dampers. Simply release the thumb screw and adjust the inner wire in or out to the proper position and tighten the thumb screw.
The 800 series have been developed for dampers behind VAV boxes.
