NORTEK™ - Optimize Airflow, Sound & Efficiency: Unlocking FANWALL® & AcoustiFLO Advantages
SVL’s latest Coffee Break Webinar was a high-energy session that gave attendees a glimpse into the future of air handler innovation, led by Shane Armstrong from NORTEK. The highlight of the presentation? The exciting acquisition of AcoustiFLO and how its integration with NORTEK’s powerful design tools promises to transform how we approach custom air handler solutions.
A Strategic Acquisition That Spells Innovation
The webinar dove into the backstory of AcoustiFLO, a small but innovative company with a niche in acoustic airflow technology. With only about 25 employees, AcoustiFLO had made significant strides in its specialty. However, according to Shane, the company’s leadership wasn’t just looking for a buyout—they were looking for a legacy. That’s where Madison Air came in.
Shane explained that AcoustiFLO’s owner had several offers on the table, but chose Madison Air because he believed in their ability to take his vision further. He didn’t want his product to be shelved or diluted—he wanted to see it grow. And Madison Air’s track record of innovation and engineering depth made them the ideal partner.
What This Means for SVL Customers
From SVL’s perspective, this acquisition is a revolutionary development. The ability to integrate acoustic airflow solutions directly into the custom design of air handlers brings a new layer of performance, precision, and quiet operation. As SVL’s team emphasized, this new technology will be especially impactful when paired with the robust FANWALL systems NORTEK is already known for.
Customers can now expect a future where acoustic modeling is seamlessly built into the design phase. While the full software integration is still in progress, users can currently access AcoustiFLO’s capabilities externally. Full integration is coming soon, and it promises to streamline the design process even further.
The Power Behind NORTEK’s NASDA Software
A significant portion of the webinar focused on the NASDA (NORTEK Air Solutions Design Assistant) design software, a powerful tool NORTEK provides its Rep network. SVL strongly encouraged attendees to sit down with their sales engineers and explore this software firsthand.
One of the standout moments came when Shane described DA as “AutoCAD on steroids” for air handler design. This wasn’t just hyperbole. The software allows users to model sound, compare fan types for efficiency, and make data-driven design decisions in real time. It’s collaborative, flexible, and capable of deep customization.
Both SVL and Shane shared a genuine enthusiasm for how intuitive and capable the NASDA platform is. Shane, who previously repped for other manufacturers and participated in pilot programs for alternative design tools, confidently stated that NASDA is “the best software” he’s used in his career—backed by years of hands-on experience.
Encouragement to Engage
The webinar wrapped up with a strong call to action. SVL urged participants to connect with their local sales engineers and explore the design tools and acoustic capabilities now available. As Shane noted, even spending 20 minutes shadowing someone like Brent on the NASDA platform can open a world of possibilities.
With AcoustiFLO’s innovation being supercharged by NORTEK’s resources, and the NASDA software bridging the gap between concept and execution, SVL customers are better positioned than ever to design efficient, quiet, and future-ready HVAC systems.
Final Thoughts:
This Coffee Break Webinar wasn’t just another technical overview—it was a glimpse into where HVAC customization is heading. The combination of AcoustiFLO’s acoustic focus with NORTEK’s FANWALL prowess and design software makes this an exciting time for engineers, designers, and facility managers alike.
