8 Features of the Rebel Rooftop System That Will Yield Savings
Daikin’s Rebel Commercial Rooftop Units Are Engineered for Efficiency
Daikin leads the industry as the world’s premier manufacturer of HVAC equipment, including chillers, air handlers, water coils, and rooftop units. The Daikin Rebel Commercial Rooftop System is an exemplary energy saver, providing energy savings up to 95% above ASHRAE’s 90.1 efficiency standard. Particularly engineered with the most advanced options to date, the Rebel is excellent for schools, healthcare facilities, retail, and offices. Check out eight features that optimize Daikin’s Rebel rooftop system’s ability to maximize cost and energy savings.
1. Variable Speed Inverter Scroll Compressor
The core of Rebel’s system is the variable speed inverter scroll compressor that provides superior temperature/humidity control, cost savings, and energy efficiencies, unmatched by typical compressors. The Rebel’s variable speed inverter scroll compressor improves comfort with unparalleled discharge air temperature control. Additionally, variable speed allows the compressor to run continuously and saves energy by removing the complete stop/start of classic compressors. Finally, the enclosed design of this compressor offers a hushed operation.
2. Variable Speed Heat Pump
The Rebel has a variable speed heat pump, which is more efficient than gas heat and has back-up heat options for severe cold weather. The modulating capacity of Rebel’s heat pump provides greater comfort for building occupants.
3. Electronic Expansion Valves
Electronic Expansion valves offer optimum control of superheat while preventing a compressor slow down in extreme temperatures. Rebel’s expansion valves lower head pressure, which provides additional efficiency.
4. Energy Recovery Wheel
The Rebel’s energy recovery wheel decreases energy expenses by up to 40 percent. Due to the single-point power connection in the wheel commissioning time is reduced. Exhausted heat and moisture energy are recoverable, and this system has a simplified, integrated control system to monitor and adjust the recovery of such energy, creating further cost savings.
5. Low Audible Condenser Fans
Rebel’s condenser fans operate at lower decibels than other options on the market and feature variable speed ECM motor(s). Resulting in fewer noise dampeners required for installation in the ducts and less distraction to building occupants.
6. Dehumidification Control
Dehumidification control is imperative, and the Rebel rooftop unit does so with little variance from the set-point and does not over cool any space. Modulated gas reheat saves time and energy expenditure while maintaining the needs of a facility.
7. Low Radiated Noise
Muted ECM and VFD fan motors with a noise dampened enclosed compressor limit the noise created by the Rebel system’s regular operation. The part-load operation further reduces harmonic disturbances with the variable speed components.
8. Stainless steel, double-sloped drain pan
The Rebel’s drain pan materials were carefully selected to prevent standing water and corrosion to achieve higher indoor air quality. An overflow protection switch is also available in units from 16-28 tons. The double-sloped design also increases effectiveness and decreases energy requirements, and maintenance costs required for operation.
