Background
SHOREVIEW, Minn. AQC Industries, Inc. (AQC), the leading manufacturer of advanced engineered duct systems, is proud to have recently supported a Habitat for Humanity® home in Willmar, Minn. The company donated 200 feet (61 m) of The BlueDuct®, which was recommended and installed by Chappell Central, Inc., a premier industrial, commercial and residential HVAC provider in Willmar. In addition to donating The BlueDuct, AQC Industries partnered with SVL, a distributor of The BlueDuct, to provide engineering services to help design the optimal duct system for the 1,400 sq ft (130 sq m) home.
Challenge
“The BlueDuct is the only underground air duct system we specify and install,” says Paul Krueger, project foreman and sales representative for Chappell Central. “An advanced duct system, it is easy to install and doesn’t leak or corrode. In addition, it meets or exceeds building codes. It effortlessly passed building code inspection, including installation and pressure testing.” A participant in Habitat for Humanity for over 20 years, Chappell Central also installed gas piping, the furnace, air-to-air exchange ventilation and bathroom ventilation. The four bedroom rambler is expected to be completed in November. “AQC is committed to helping families and the community build reliable, sustainable shelters,” says Jim Lubratt, vice president of AQC Industries. “NSF P374 certified for R-10 equivalent thermal performance, The BlueDuct is pre-insulated for energy efficiency and does not require added insulation, drain tile or cement trench structures.”
Solution
The BlueDuct is the only proven, direct-burial underground duct system made from ultra-durable, advanced polyethylene. The system is engineered to protect against corrosion, mold and mildew, radon, rust, water and air leaks. The BlueDuct has been installed in thousands of commercial and residential buildings, for over a decade, with trouble-free, long-term performance.
