SVL Service Tech Steps into Retirement After 40 Years
This year, distinguished service technician, Bob Johnson celebrated his 40 years of dedicated service at SVL. This Grand Marais native tried his hand at a few other career paths before landing at SVL’s Service Corporation.
Bob’s Life Before SVL
His first job was as at a logging company, where he helped his brother build a sawmill. Bob’s mechanical aptitude was made evident almost immediately. Following his love of the outdoors, he took a stab at commercial fishing for four seasons. This adventure undoubtedly prepared him for the various climate conditions he would encounter as a field service technician. In 1975, Bob started college at Dunwoody and completed a program in refrigeration maintenance.
Life as a Service Tech
In 1977, Bob came to work for SVL and has never looked back. Bob and his wife Mary Ann live in Two Harbors, MN. They moved up there in 2003, and Bob has pioneered our service expansion to the area. Bob and Mary Ann have two daughters, Nicole and Danielle, and they have one grandson, Lincoln, who is two-and-a-half years old.
Retirement is Sweet
In his free time, Bob snowmobiles, fishes, and hunts. He also volunteers with the Duluth Local 11 Plumbers and Steamfitters at their HVAC Apprenticeship facility. Bob enjoys passing on his expertise to other technicians coming through the ranks.
When asked to reflect and share about his time with SVL, Bob had this to say: “I owe a lot to my wife and two daughters for supporting me all of these years, working late hours and being out of town a lot. I work with the best people in the HVAC industry at SVL. I truly feel very fortunate to have found such a great company to work with right out of Dunwoody.”
Thank you, Bob, for 40 years of dedicated service!
