Advanced Polarized Filtration is Key to Improving Your IAQ
Advanced Polarized Filtration is a Necessary Component for Improved Indoor Air Quality
SVL offers advanced polarized filtration products from Dynamic Air Quality Solutions that clean air to MERV-13 and MERV-15 levels that improve Indoor Air Quality (IAQ).
Advanced polarized filtration clears the air of ultrafine particles, biologicals, VOCs, and odors. This can be accomplished at a third of the operational cost of conventional passive filter alternatives, leaving significantly cleaner indoor air, no loss of airflow, and lower energy expenses.
How Advanced Polarized Filtration Works
Active-field polarized media removes the smallest contaminants from the air, dramatically improving IAQ. This is achieved by the three-dimensional loading of particles to media fibers, as opposed to one-dimensional trapping. Additionally, polarization causes particle agglomeration. The process of agglomeration polarizes ultrafine particles after passing through an air cleaning system. Agglomeration results in the attraction of particles to each other and other chemical contaminants. Then they become larger particles and move back to the air handling unit, leaving clean air behind. The main types of pollutants in the air that polarized filtration removes are ultrafine particles, odors and VOCs, and biological contaminants.
Ultrafine Particles
Nearly any movement releases Ultrafine Particles (UFPs). Some common sources include technology, factory emissions, and tobacco smoke. The smaller the particle, the more dangerous and problematic they can be. Not only are particles damaging to coils and other equipment, but also to occupant health.
There is an inverse relationship between the number and weight of contaminating particles. A limited number of large particles make up the bulk of the mass, while the millions of UFPs cause the most health problems to make up the majority of the particle count, but just a small fraction of the mass. Particles in this size range bypass your body’s defenses and can carry with them a wide variety of VOCs and reactive gas phase contaminants.
Odors and VOCs
VOCs and odors can be particularly dangerous. Odors and VOCs come from interior sources, like furniture and cleaning supplies, as well as exterior sources like tobacco smoke, formaldehyde, and pesticides.
Biological Contaminants
Viruses and bacteria are at the forefront of many minds with the pandemic. Polarized active-field filtration offers excellent protection against the redistribution of airborne biological contaminants. Mold, pollen, and dust mites are also significantly reduced when utilizing agglomeration. Moreover, allergy sufferers will feel the difference, and your facility will have a considerably smaller chance of transferring biological contaminants of all kinds from room to room.
Advanced Polarized Filtration Solutions from Dynamic
Dynamic Air Quality Solutions has several filtration options to fit your existing or new application. Dynamic 1″ and 2″ Polarized-Media Cleaners, as well as 1″ and 2″ Tandem Polarized-Media Cleaners options, are available. These filters provide the cleaning equivalency of MERV 13 in recirculation systems, low static pressure, and easy installation. The Polarized-Media Cleaners fit most air handlers and packaged rooftop systems. Another notable option is the Dynamic’s V8 System. It is ideal for providing self-contained filtration with a MERV 15 rating. All of Dynamic’s advanced filtration solutions last on average three times the life span of typical filters. The longer lifespan reduces downtime maintenance requirements.
Typical applications include:
- Airports
- Auditoriums
- Churches
- Data Centers
- Factories
- Hospitals
- Laboratories
- Museums
- Office Buildings
- Schools
- Theaters
Dynamic Air Filtration Improves IAQ While Saving Money
Dynamic filters are rated to remove contaminants as small as 0.3 microns in diameter, with maximum load filters. This means that Dynamic’s products are able to capture and contain SARS-CoV2, which is the virus that causes COVID-19. Important to note, Dynamic’s Air Cleaning filters and systems require far fewer filter changes than other options on the market, saving operational costs and maintenance time. Dynamic also has advanced filtration options for tight spaces to make infrequent maintenance and filter changes easier.
Effectively cleaned indoor air also allows a reduction of ventilation air requirements by ASHRAE’s standards. The result is cost savings due to reduced fan energy and equipment horsepower requirements. An improved filtration option will make your facility more pandemic resistant and save money at the same time. SVL can help you identify the best-advanced filtration option for your application.
